Our Veterinarians

Dr. Rodger Griffiths

Dr. Rodger Griffiths opened Bright’s Grove Animal Hospital 30 years ago. He has always felt that the bond between an owner and their pets is special and should be cherished and celebrated. It is the job of the clinic to respect and augment that bond anyway we can.

Dr. Griffiths has been through extensive continued education and examination, even becoming Board Certified. Recertification is required every 10 years and he has maintained his specialty status. He feels that between being Board Certified and going through the rigorous standards set up by the American Animal Hospital Association, Bright’s Grove Animal Hospital offers the most up to date services to our clients and their pets.

He has a soft spot for cats and shares his home with two Devon Rex cats, Flv and Hun Bun. He enjoys visiting with his children and grandchildren whenever possible. He likes staying active and enjoys biking and restoring his antique car.

Dr. Randi Delavigne

Dr. Randi Delavigne graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2018, and has been with the Bright’s Grove Animal Hospital team since May of 2020. She is very happy to be living her childhood dream in her hometown. She prides herself in quality patient care and strives to make each patient feel as comfortable as possible at the clinic.

Randi enjoys the little things in life – fresh air on a sunny day, a hot steeped tea from Timmies, and of course, her 5lb chihuahua, Petrie. You can usually find this spoiled little man guarding the clinic from the doctor’s office window. She also shares her home with her cat, Luke, and her two rabbits, Stewart and Fern.

Dr. Melanie Moore

Dr. Melanie Moore-Fernandes is a veterinarian committed to animal welfare, providing accessible care, and public education. Originally from the Cayman Islands, Dr. Melanie grew up surrounded by stray animals. By the age of 14, she began working in an animal clinic and witnessed the financial and socioeconomic barriers to giving animals happy, healthy lives. Now, her mission is to provide affordable treatment, promote responsible care, and support animal population control through affordable spay and neuter programs.

Dr. Melanie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Aberystwyth University is Wales before graduating from Ontario Veterinary College with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2021. Her professional interests include providing cost effective services and protocols to pet owners, shelter medicine, and providing low-cost pet sterilization services to the community. She is currently pursuing a Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA) from Chi University to provide alternative, holistic services including acupuncture, food therapy, and Tui-na (Chinese medical manipulation).

Dr. Melanie is co-founder of two organizations; Canadian VIBE (Veterinary professionals Instilling Black Excellence) Network, a collaborative network of Black Veterinary Professionals throughout Canada, and Canadian Collective for Equity in Veterinary Medicine-Collectivité Canadienne pour l’Équité en Médecine Vétérinaire, a collective of veterinary professionals and students working towards an equitable, accessible, and sustainable profession through community-building, education, and advocacy. She is the recipient of the 2021 Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Change Agent Award, which honors rising leaders and their commitment to diversity and change in veterinary medicine.

In her spare time, Dr. Melanie is a board member for the Sarnia Humane Society, volunteers for Big Brother Big Sister Sarnia, and mentors aspiring veterinary professionals. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and their Persian cat Sultan, weightlifting, and canvas oil painting. She looks forward to meeting you and your fur babies!

Dr. Thomas Kostuch

Dr. Tom has worked with us on a part time basis the last 8 years. He is a highly skilled surgeon and we are lucky to have him here!

Our Registered Veterinary Technicians

Veronica has been a RVT at Bright’s Grove Animal Hospital since 2012 and is our head veterinary technician.  Veronica has always had a love for animals.  As a young child she was often found outside digging for worms and other critters in the garden, playing with the family dog, or cuddling the family cat.

She continued her love for animals at the University of Guelph where she received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology.  She continued her studies by completing her Veterinary Technician diploma from Seneca College and has been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 2010.

Veronica strives to make every animals’ experience a good one and treats them like she would her own pets.  She shares her home with her husband, 2 children, and her cats Cosmo and Greg.

Tabby developed a passion for animals and from a young age she brought all kind of creatures into her family home, from mice to kittens to turtles. She enjoys horseback riding, fostering animals through the Sarnia & District Humane Society and spending time with her family. Tabby currently shares her home with cats, a dog, a rabbit and a horse.

Tabby graduation from the University of Guelph with a certificate of Veterinary Office Administration and then continued on to earn her Veterinary Technician diploma. Her favourite aspect of the job is surgery and anesthesia.

Sarah grew up on a farm where her love of animals started at a young age. She would feed the lambs, help with the pigs and goats and play with her family’s dogs.

Sarah became a technician to follow her passion and love for animals. She strives to make all her patients as comfortable as possible and wants to offer the best possible care to each pet. Sarah shares her home with 2 Golden Retrievers, Duke and Gertrude, as well as her puppy Sophie.

Amelia is our newest registered vet tech who graduated from Northern College in 2020. She enjoys fostering animals in need (especially the challenging ones!) and nursing them back to health to find their furever homes. Amelia has 2 rescued dogs, Squeejee and Freya, and 2 rescued cats, Toothless and Asphalt.

Amelia’s passions in the clinic are taking radiographs and surgery. She wants to make every pet feel comfortable while they’re in the clinic. Amelia is our lead laser technician for our therapy laser. Her favourite patients to see are cats and huskies.

Jolene loves animals of all shapes and sizes but has a soft spot for her whippets. She shares her home with her husband, 2 daughters and 2 whippets, Starkey and Emmy.

Active in many dog sports from a young age, I enjoy the challenge of competing with my boys as well as the one on one time I get with them whether in the ring or on the trails. I also have been a foster for Autism Dog services for 8 years, raising pups to go and be service dogs. My passion is dog behavior and cooperative care and making animals feel safe and enriched. I’ve worked with all sizes of animals from pocket pets to large animals and enjoy learning about new techniques and all aspects of animal health.
I share my home with my two white shepherds Torch and Cash and my current foster puppy.
